Average cross slope

Hi,

I need to calculate the average cross slope perpendicular to an input line/polygon's edge.

My surface is a raster DTM and I need to figure out if the ground around that line (within a given distance left and or right) is tipped towards the right or left of the line, and how much.

I do not seem to have the ability to convert a polygon to a line... but truth be told, I'd rather use a polygon input and define the result as sloping inward or outward.

Any Ideas?

So you only have a basic license?

would give you cross boundary lines if you can convert to polygons to polylines which you could use for a variety of purposes

Do you have the Spatial Analyst extension?
