How to re-compile the samples project in Visual Studio?

Hi All,
I've been trying to compile the samples project without success.

  1. I've put the plugin (v1.4) inside the Plugins folder
  2. generated the visual Studio file
  3. open the solution in visual studio
  4. set the sample_project as startup project
  5. development editor
  6. win64

I tried build, rebuild, clean+build and I always get the same output log:

I am stuck and can't do anything..

Does anybody have any hint on how to get it working?

This should now be resolved in the main branch as well. So you can simply pull the main branch or get a new copy of the Samples repo. Let us know if you are still having issues with this.

I can compile and open a new C++ project with the SDK 1.4 but not the sample_project..

I am able to compile in 5.1.1 but not 5.2.1 nor in 5.3.2

You can fix this by changing line 70 of "sample_project\Routing\RouteManager.cpp"

To one of the following option:

  1.  float TraceLength = 10000000.f;
  2. auto TraceLength = 10000000.;
  3. double TraceLength = 10000000.;

hi @AShahbaz and thank you for your reply.

I tried them all, one after the other, I cleaned the solution, built it, rebuilt and i am still getting the same errors.

I noticed that it works if I take the 3DAttribute folder out fo the Source folder, it builds and open.

Not sure why the above suggestions won't work for you. They solved the issue for me locally. I also don't know why removing 3DAttributes helps, since it doesn't have any variable called TraceLength, which seems to be the issue.
If you are still having issues, there are a couple ideas you could try:

  • Renaming the variable "TraceLength" everywhere in "RouteManager.cpp"
  • Removing the "TraceLength" variable and using a hard-coded value, e.g., "10000000.0" wherever it's used
  • Moving the definition of "TraceLength" to "RouteManager.h" and using that variable whenever needed in "RouteManager.cpp"

Hi Luigi,

I'm going to add to what Arash mentioned above. There are 3 TraceLength Local Variables that need the fix he mentioned. In line 70, 146, and 257 of RouteManager.cpp, please change the line to be 
"autoTraceLength = 10000000.f;". If this does not work, we currently have a fix up here that you can try. Simply switch your branch from main to "mas12517/FixRoutingSample", or download the zip for that branch off github and you should be able to go through the setup document as normal and everything should work. If you run into any other issues, please don't hesitate to reach out.
