Derek Law, normally I wouldn't start my own discussion about someone else's blog post, but comments appear to be disabled on ArcGIS: An Open Platform for Innovation. My open vision includes GeoJSON Layers in AGOL, along with ArcGIS Pro: Direct GeoJSON support . I have nothing against KML, GeoPackage, or any of the other OGC standards that Esri…(Show moreShow less)
Checkout this great new document which discusses how the ArcGIS Platform and its various components are open and interoperable. To learn more about Esri's open vision, please checkout: esri.com/software/open . Enjoy,
Hello, I work with a habitats polygon layer that includes about 100 habitat types. Most of the maps I produce with it will only have 5-10 of these habitats in the mapping area. However when I make the legend all 100 are included. At present I am manually making the legend for each map, which of course is time consuming. Is there a way to include…(Show moreShow less)
Have a look at Working with legends—Help | ArcGIS Desktop . You will find the following option "Only show classes that are visible in the current map extent" If the Only show classes that are visible in the current map extent check box is checked, a legend item class will only appear in the legend if a feature from that class is in the current…
As we publish more and more services on our ArcGIS Server I'm finding that the system is getting more and more slow. Can anyone recommend what hardware specs to upgrade to in order to increase performance? (RAM, # processors, etc.)?
You could check ArcGIS Server 10.5 system requirements—Installation Guides (10.5) | ArcGIS Enterprise but there are also other factors that affect the performance of ArcGIS Server. Hopefully these resources will help you to better understand the architecture. ArcGIS for Server Performance and Scalability Tuning services in your ArcGIS Server…
Hey everybody, I´ve got a problem loading large datasets via WFS. The connection with ArcCatalog works fine, but when I want to open the dataset in ArcMap it starts indexing and brakes down after a while giving me the error message: "This dataset appears to be invalid. Please verify that your settings or file contents are correct and try again"…(Show moreShow less)
I'm looking to split this polygon into 3 separate polygons and make 5 objects rather than 3 in the attribute table. Normally, this would be a simple task however, I am hitting a wall on how to perform this split without actual boundaries. Any help or suggestion would be great. Thanks!

There are several ways to do this. Here's one workflow: 1. Put the Lat Longs into an Excel spreadsheet. 2. Convert the Lat Longs to decimal degrees. Decimal Degrees = Degrees + (Minutes/60) + (Seconds/3600). 3. Add a new field and then number the Lat Long coordinate pairs in the sequence they need to be connected. For example, fieldname…
I am having a 5 -10 second lag time every time I pan or add a feature in ArcMap 10.5. I am hoping for real time pan, if at all possible. I am using ArcMap 10.5 on my desktop computer and doing some very basic functions with very few layers. I am pulling some info from ArcGIS online for the base map but creating and editing features on my…(Show moreShow less)
