Tracking user analytics has been common throughout the web for well over a decade. However, the benefit of using data to create a better user experience has not quite made it to web maps. When analytics are tracked, it’s common to do it at the server level, only looking at performance and resource data.
How do we determine the success or failure of a map from a UI/UX perspective, and what types of data should we collect for that? This talk will reflect on the types of questions developers should be asking about their maps, and a methodology for going out to collect that information to arrive at an informed answer.
