Happy Tuesday,  It has been a busy week here at the Esri Transportation Labs and we are pleased to release the CAD to GIS integration Geoprocessing tools highlighted at the CAD to GIS Webinar on Wednesday August 31, 2016. There are 3 tools to check out.

  1. CAD to Webmap.  This tool allows an organization to publish a CAD file to ArcGIS Online as hosted features so Contractors, Construction Workers and Engineers can take the data into the field on a mobile device like Collector.  Data can be marked up and or edited and the tool will pull the changes and mark up back down to the ground in a CAD file for review by designers.
  2. CAD to GIS without Surface. This tool simply converts 3D CAD features to 3D GIS features.  No extensions required
  3. CAD to GIS with Surface.  This tool converts 3D CAD features to 3D GIS Features and creates a raster surface from contours found in the CAD file.

I've also included videos found below the geoprocessing tool downloads that explain the set up, care and feeding required of these tools.  Please post your questions and comments.  I look forward to seeing all the creative ways your DOT makes use of these utilities. I also encourage you to enhance ans progress the tools.
