Aggregating Trails and Other Recreational Features on Federal Lands: An informal discussion

Information, especially location, on recreational features such as campgrounds, visitor centers, trailheads and trails on federal lands occur in many forms across many different authoritative agencies.  The current hurdles inside land management agencies and with data aggregators such as the USGS and include wide varieties of standards, schemas, and purposes for this data. The challenge is for agencies to distribute the effort for aggregating the data and move toward common standards, schemas, and quality. The goal for this meeting is to discuss the current state of this work, collect ideas, and continue to work together to create and maintain this data in a meaningful way.

We hope you have interest in recreation data and development of a National Recreational Geodatabase and will be able to come join the discussion.  Some of the topics to discuss include partnering with “”, use/development of a unique trails segment ID and, the use/review of trails data coming from “.orgs” and “.coms”.  Come hear what current efforts are underway in the federal agencies. The meeting at the ESRI UC is Tuesday, 6/28/16 at 4:30pm.  We will meet in SDCC room #12.
We look forward to seeing you there.  Please pass this invite to other people in your agency who might have interest.  Please contact us if you have any questions.  Thanks . . .
