Currently Esri Maps for SharePoint requires you to log in to one particular portal that has been configured for the SharePoint server. This is either ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS. This is set up at install time.

If we have multiple portals set up across our organisation but only one SharePoint server, we would like users across our business to be able to log into Esri Maps for SharePoint in SharePoint using their existing Portal Named user account. We don't want to have to set up duplicate named user accounts in multiple portals in order for users to be able to log into Esri Maps for sharepoint.  A users ArcGIS identity should work across the whole platform.

Hello Nick,

Thank you for submitting this idea! When you say you want your users to be able to use their credentials from one Portal to sign in and use Esri Maps for Sharepoint, how will they be using the app? Do you mean you want them to be able to log in via their respective Portal, and have access only to resources within said Portal? If you can expand upon this request it can help us better understand what you need out of Esri Maps for Sharepoint.

Hi,

Our requirement is somewhat related to Nick's even though the main concern for us is not the duplicate user ids. While working with the Esri Support Analyst for the SP 2013 plugin, we found that the configuration allows to specify only one Portal or AGOL url. Is there a way to specify multiple Portal or AGOL urls for this plugin? Reason is because we have one single SP master site and underneath that site, we have different sub-sites for departments – so it would be great to configure this plugin against the master SP site and specify multiple Portal urls.

Each unit/dept has a different ArcGIS portal - and they would use their data from their own SP site and invoke the ArcGIS Maps plugin to plot the data. Since the master level SP site is same for few units/depts., we need the ability to specify multiple Portal URLs.
