GeoTagged Photos To Points should allow the extraction additional EXIF metadata (Direction in particular)

the new GeoTagged Photos To Points tool in 10.1 is nice but long overdue and incomplete. Some GPS / Cameras have a compass and save the image direction in the EXIF metadata. The tool should be able to add that to a field in the feature class attribute table. More generally, it should allow users to extract all the EXIF tags if wanted.

Agreed.  I have a large volume of Geotagged photos that include compass bearing EXIF data.  It would be outstanding to have it added to the feature class attribute table, as well as having the ability to symbolize a cone showing the photo direction.

Another great enhancement would be to NOT strip out the EXIF information when the photo is stored as an attachment to the geodatabase.

As an example, the ESRI devs can check out Fulcrum App.  Each photo in their map displays compass direction as a triangle, and it is super helpful for giving context to photos.  Don't let an assessment tool company school you on mapping!
