I was trying to create a heatmap for bus routes.

Inputs: Bus Routes (Polyline)
Population Field: Number of trips per day made by each bus route
Cell Size: 25 Square Feet
Search Radius: 1500 feet

The result looks like:

My question is: How to understand the value of 12.84?

Thanks a lot!

Greetings,

It's impossible to answer the question with the information you've provided.  It really depends on units and if you selected an area unit scale factor.  As an example consider that the lines have a projection that has linear units of meters.  The length of the lines will be in meters then.  If you run Kernel Density with the area unit scale factor set to Square Kilometers, the the output values will be in kilometers per square kilometer.  I would suggest reviewing How Kernel Density works for line features.

Eric
