Hello.

I have created a model in version 10 and now require to open it in Version 9.3 as some tools are only available in ArcInfo which we have at 9.3. Is it possible to do this? although I can see the toolboxes in Arc9.3 I cannot see the tools within it to open or edit them.

Thank you
Laura

Unfortunately, I do not believe there is a way to "Down Save" to an older version of ArcGIS.

One option might be to save the model out to Python and then modify it to point to the GPTools in 9.3 and then run the model that way.

You can't save the model as a lower version, but you can save the toolbox the model lives in to a lower version
On the toolbox, right-click > save-as >

Take a look at the list here to see what you may lose (as new functionality is removed when saving down to ensure compatibility)

I "down saved" a toolbox that started as a 9.3 toolbox, but must have changed to a 10 when I saved changes to one of the models it contained while I was testing ArcGIS 10.  I re-saved it as a 9.3 toolbox so I could add it to ArcGIS 9.3 again.  However, the model's layout was entirely altered and all icons were placed in a single straight line.  It now resembles multiple spaghetti strands that have congealed into a single linear blob.  Has anyone else experienced this?

A co-worker just solved this for me:

If that happens, you can use ??Auto Layout?? from the ??View?? menu. Although this will not recreate your layout, it will rearrange your module in a sequence of existing processes, and it??s easy to follow?

It should be forward compatible.
What do you mean by it doesnt work?

If you're getting a red-x over the model, you may just need to edit it, save it and it should work. Short of that I'd need more information to help.

Hi Kevin,

at the moment I don't have the machine running 10 to try it on, but I will and I'll let you know.

Thnx
