Hello,
How to create historical marker programmatically with Python or geoprocessing model or some other way. I can not find any information at all. I can create it by using tools in ArcMap, but i need to automate this process.

Thank you..

What is your definition of a historical marker?

I guess a marker would have to be over 50 years old to be considered historic, but these are half way there: http://www.manylittleblessings.com/2010/10/i-love-a-set-of-25-year-old-markers/

There is currently no gp method for creating historical markers through Python. We have not received many requests for this functionality but is something that we could look into implementing. Can you describe your desired workflow if this functionality was available?

Hi Russell,

I know this thread is about 4 years old, but could you please confirm that there's still no way to add historical markers via python in 10.3?

Thanks,

Stephan

There is still no way to create a historical marker via python as of 10.3.1. However you can connect to your geodatabase at a point in time using python. If you use the Create Database Connection tool (which was new at 10.1 I believe). This tool lets you specify a point in time you wish to connect to. This will connect to your archived data at that point in time. Not quite a historical version but pretty close.
