So is this compiled against version 2.3 or 2.4 of the Silverlight API?

Hi Ryan,

I think you saw my answer in the beta forum, but I'm reposting here for others:

The ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight 1.0 Final release is based on the ArcGIS API for Silverlight v2.4. See our Silverlight/WPF blog for a bit more info on the updates made for v2.4.

Katy

PS - We encourage everyone to begin using this forum over the beta community forum, as the beta community forum will be closed down in the near future.

Thanks Katy, Sorry for the spam. Trying to get some sites up and running today. One other thing I can't seem to locate is the Visual Studio template. It's mentioned in the "What's new" but I can't find a link.

No problem at all. It'll take a bit of time to transfer everyone over to this forum instead. 🙂

We'll be posting the Extensibility SDK soon.

Will I need to build all my sites again, or is there process for upgrading to the final release from beta that does not lose the sites that were built in the beta version? Thanks.

@Michal,

We need to localize the viewer as well as the sharepoint mapping api to Hebrew...

Supporting Hebrew localization is not part of the Silverlight Viewer 1.0 release, nor the ArcGIS for SharePoint 2.1 release. Sorry. We hope to support it in a future release.

@Scott,

Will I need to build all my sites again, or is there process for upgrading to the final release from beta that does not lose the sites that were built in the beta version?

Unfortunately, there is no migration process for sites built on the Silverlight Viewer beta to final release. You will have to recreate your sites in the final release.

Hope this helps,

Does the viewer support the ability to access secure ArcGIS Server Services? Specifically avoiding a proxy page and having the client provide specific credentials?

Hi Zachary,

Does the viewer support the ability to access secure ArcGIS Server Services?

Yes. Please see this help topic: Adding secured services

Specifically avoiding a proxy page and having the client provide specific credentials?

No. The recommended pattern is a proxy page as this is a more secure path.

Hope this helps,

I'm glad to hear this is actually the more secure path! Now if i could only get the viewer working right...i see no means to configure it to use a FQDN rather than the machine name.
