Hi friends,

Just checking if anyone is testing the WPS functionality now available AGS 10.1. So far I have exposed several of my geoprocess tools and models as WPS processes and can access service metadata, process descriptions, execute both in synchronous and Asynchronous mode and also poll the server for status of processes. However, I cannot get the existing clients (QGIS, uDig, and Jump) to execute my processes. I also don't know if ArcGIS desktop applications can consume WPS services like they do with ESRI GP services. Your thoughts and ideas on this are highly welcome.

I'm just noting that there has been some responses to a similar thread at http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/47801-arcgisbeta10_1

I too would like to see ArcGIS for Desktop be a client able to consume WPS served by ArcGIS for Server and third parties.

Hi Rashid

I think you are looking for expertise in WPS that I simply don't have.  I am yet to connect a WPS client to a WPS server but I certainly like the idea of being able to do so.  ArcGIS for Server 10.1 provides the WPS server capability but I am looking to consume them from ArcGIS for Desktop.  Being able to do that is not something that I would do in preference to using Geoprocessing Services like I do now, but it would give me confidence that interoperability using WPS of other vendors and Open Source projects had taken a big step forward.
