We purchased multiple ArcPad licenses for our mobile GPS devices and have used them all.
We would like to customize some of the entries using ArcPad studio. Do we need to purchase a separate license on the development desktop for it?

What version of ArcPad do you have? ArcPad 8 and 10 both come with ArcStudio, so you are able to utilize it at no additional cost. If using ArcPad 7, then it was a separate purchase at the time. If you are using ArcPad 7, I would recommend an upgrade to ArcPad 10, which is $250 I believe and then would give you access to ArcStudio.

It's ArcPad 10, but we used the ones we purchased on the Trimble GPS devices. I am not sure, how the included ArcPad studio can be installed on the desktop without a new license key for ArcPad to go with it.

Thanks for your response.

ArcPad is considered a "Dual Use License", which means the software may be installed on a desktop computer and used simultaneously with a mobile device as long as the software is only used by a single individual at any one time.

You can install ArcPad\ArcPad Studio on you desktop and use one of the licenses currently running on your Trimble devices without having to purchase an additional one.  You can get the registration number off the device by Starting ArcPad, tapping the Help drop down and tap the About ArcPad option.  Under the version number is the registration number.  For ArcPad 10 it will be a 118 number.

If the devices came pre-loaded and and you don't have the software to install, you can download it from the Customer Care Portal by logging in with your Global ID and following the Software Download link.  Please note that you will need a valid Esri Customer number for this option.  If a customer number was not provided to you, please contact Customer Service at 888-377-4575.
