I am receiving the following error when trying to start ArcGIS Workflow Manager on an Windows 2008 R2 server:

"The program can't start because oraxml10.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Then Workflow Manager starts and I can see my jobs, and create a new job (well some anyway).

My default connection uses a direct connect with the following parameters:
Server name
Service: sde:oracle11g:EGISD1

I am connecting as the WMX user.

What does this dll do for me?

I have checked my PATH variable and it points to oracle home which is d:\oracle\produce\11.2.0.2.

Thoughts?

Hi Alison,

That DLL is referencing an Oracle DLL that may be missing on your computer because you do not have the correct oracle client version installed.
Do you have a map in the Workflow Manager map view? Is the data in that map coming from another oracle database? When we load the Workflow Manager application, we also load the map in the map view at start up in addition to the other thing that happen. There may be a broken connection in the maps that you have causing this error to happen.
Try opening the map view map or other maps that you have in your workflow manager system in ArcMap and make sure that you do not have any broken layers in the MXD.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Tope. You were correct, the problem was that the Map View .mxd was pointing to an old version of a map document that used an Oracle 10 connection.

This will be interesting in the future though as I will have a mixture of Oracle 10 and Oracle 11 clients throughout the organization. Currently the WMX database is at 10, but later this week I will be migrating it to 11g.

Thanks!

Great!
I think you will just need to have different versions of the client installed on the machines, and things should just work fine.

Tope,

I was hoping you might be able to provide some insight in how to deal with the following situation.

Desktops will all be installed with Oracle 10 client (also 9 and 8, but 10 is in the front of their path)
Server will be installed with Oracle 11 client only
SDE/WMX database is Oracle 11

I would like to use my server to publish the flex viewer and subsequently allow a subset of users create and interact with jobs using on the flex viewer.

I would like to have a group of desktop users to use WMX to create and interact with jobs.

So how do I deal with my database connections, workspaces and map documents? They all have service information stored in them. When I switch from working on the server to working on the desktop I run into issues of server libraries not loading and ORA10xml.dll errors.

Could you suggest a way of dealing with this issue?

Thanks,
