Is there a way to add an opacity slider to listed layers in the Map Contents control of the viewer?
Or would I need to create a new control?  I would like to avoid that, if possible, as I like the other functionality of the Map Contents control.
Thanks.

Hi Gerardo,

Yes, you would actually need to create a control, but it could be something you include in the layout itself. See this forum post for more info: Layout" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/51913-Layout-Customization]L... Customization.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the help Katy.  I like your solution.
My only concern is dynamic service sub-layers which are not selectable. We have a service with 20 sub-layers and complex symbology.
We may have to load the ones that need different opacity as separate layers.

Yes, that is probably the most appropriate solution in this case.
