Shadable Country Overlays

Hi all,

Apologies to all if this is a stupid question but I am new to ArcGIS online! I am trying to create maps of regions of the world where I have shaded certain countries in colours of my choosing. I can find the various base maps and all sorts of overlays, plus can create my own overlays using freehand drawings, for example, but surely there must be overlays for country borders already in existence. I have them for Google Earth but want to create flat maps of large areas of the world, so that won't help me.

Have I missed something really obvious? The answer is probably yes, so please be gentle with me!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

After a quick search, here are some datasets I found... These are "layer packages" which can be downloaded and opened in ArcGIS Desktop. You could then export them to shapefiles to overlay on the map in arcgis online.

There may be other datasets available too. I simply searched for "world countries"

Hope this helps,

Mike

Thanks Mike, it certainly does help. I had a feeling they existed somewhere but I was so focussed on searching for ArcGIS Online overlays I neglected looking for other terms. My sticking point might be getting ArcGIS Desktop running on my work PC (admin rights, etc) where I'm testing it (waiting for the Enterprise version to start) but I'll find a way of solving it.

Thanks once again,

Nick
