Hey,

I have created a Sketchup model based on the location provided by the terrain information from GoogleEarth (using Sketchup tool to grap the terrain). When I was done with the model and exported it back to GoogleEarth (again using Sketchup tool to send it back), I couldn't see my model. Any idea?

Thanks for any help!

This is an ESRI ArcGIS forum more specifically 3D Analyst.  Try posting your question in the Google SketchUp forums or the GIS StackEchage.  If you have any issues concerning the importing of SketchUp models into ArcGIS or exporting existing ArcGIS data into 3rd party such as Collada we might be able to help.

My next step is to import my model into ArcGIS. But I need to verify/review my model in GoogleEarth before I start the importing. Sending back a model to GoogleEarth for quality control is a part of the whole process and I am sure some people experienced the same issue as I mentioned in my first post. Any help is appreciated.

You are aware that you will loose all georeferencing information once you import into ArcScene? (Unless your starting point was a multipatch feature which you have exported, modified in SketchUp, and want to replace with the updated model)
The technique you described should have worked for exporting to Google Earth. How complex is your model?

Thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I am aware that I will lose georeferencing information once I import into ArcScene. However I can avoid it by bring a terrain model with a draped image (same location as in GoogleEarth) into ArcScene... My model is a simple one.

Back to my original issue: I have checked Google SketchUp forums and found out many people have the same issue. Apparently there is no good explanation about why it happened. A lot of people even tried to reinstall both applications, but no luck. Well I guess I am just going to try some work around.

Thanks
