Cannot Sign In

I'm trying to sign in to ArcGIS Explorer Online, but I cannot use my Global Account ID.  I even created a new one and I still cannot use it to log in.  Any idea what's going on?

Hi Guillaume,

An Esri global account must be registered with ArcGIS.com in order to log in to ArcGIS.com, or to Explorer Online. If you didnt do this step, you can do it by clicking the 'New Here' link in the sign-in dialog in Explorer Online which opens the Sign in page on ArcGIS.com; then click the 'Register your Esri Global Account' link on that page and follow the instructions. One other thing could be that both username and password are case sensitive.

Hope this helps. We hope we can make the process of registering accounts a bit more straightforward in future releases.

I have the same issue, and registering my account didn't help. I keep getting "The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication required." error message

I'e just tried creating a new Esri account, and then registering with ArcGIS.com, and it worked OK for me. I'm not sure what the problem could be - is there a proxy server in place where you're connecting from?

I'm having the same issue when using ArcGIS Desktop 10.0.   File --> ArcGIS Online... produces that error.  Yes we have a proxy firewall to traverse when going onto the Internet.  How do I enable ArcGIS to use the proxy?

Any response from ESRI to this thread would be nice.

I get the 407 error when I try to use the Add Data button to add a basemap from ArcGIS Online, even after setting up the connection to automatically log in with my ArcGIS account and password.

Hello,

We have solved the same issue with one of the following steps

1. Open ArcCatalog. Click on Customize menu -> ArcCatalog Options

In the Connections tab, set the proxy path and port. Set the user and pwd if were necessary.

2. Install the File Menu Performance Patch: http://resources.arcgis.com/es/content/patches-and-service-packs?fa=viewPatch&PID=160&MetaID=1678
This patch is also included in SP1 and SP2.

This worked like a charm.  I really appreciate you posting this simple ArcCatalog configuration setting.  We had a ticket out with ESRI, and no one ever mentioned needing to set up a proxy authentication from the ArcCatalog Connections menu.

In fact, you don't need to set up a proxy in ArcCatalog. ArcGIS takes your web explorer specifications, and your windows login user and password.

I ran into the Proxy 407 error just last week. After searching all of the forums I couldn't figure out why my user was still getting this issue. We are running ArcGIS Desktop 10, Service Pack 3. After Service Pack 1 apparently you are not able to enter in the proxy settings manually into ArcCatalog because they are read automatically from IE Settings. After much frustration, I found that part of SP3 did not take and I had to install an SP3 patch located here: http://resources.arcgis.com/content/patches-and-service-packs?fa=viewPatch&PID=160&MetaID=1833

On a side note, my user's computer had crashed and been rebuilt so all installs were fresh.

This was a known bug from ESRI. After my user installed this patch, everything worked like a charm.

Hopefully this helps someone who may run into this into the future.
