I would like to be able to show google maps control + ESRI feature layer(s) on top. Feature layer urls are provided by application users (customers).

Please let me know if this is possible.

If yes, do I need to have any licenses for ESRI?

I'm interesting in solving same task for iOS - showing apple maps control + ESRI feature layers on top.

Thank you.

Hi Alex,

You can create your own GET and POST request calls directly to a FeatureService and extract the response data. Here is a link to our REST API documentation: ArcGIS REST API‌.

In regards to displaying that information top of a Google Android SDK map it depends on the type of feature data and what you want to do with it. You'll need to custom write all the code to handle the request/response translation with the feature service and converting the Esri features to Google shapes. Depending on what you are planning on doing this could end up being a ton of custom code that could be easily gotten via our SDK. You'll also lose a ton of built-in functionality by not using the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs.

As far as feature layer licensing you will have to check with the organization that is providing the feature layer for any conditions/restrictions/costs that they may have.

In terms of using the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs there are licensing requirements, here's a link: Legal Information | Licensing Terms‌. If you want to drill down into more specific SDK licensing questions I'd be happy to get you in contact with someone?

@Andy, thank you for your answer.

Question for you: is it possible to use ArcGIS Runtime SDK and show there Apple Maps on iOS/Google Maps on Android without additional configuration or without having ArcGIS account/online server?

I'm new in ArcGIS, so please help me to understand correctly how your Runtime SDK works and what it can provide for free/without licensing and what requires additional purchase or account creation.

Basically I need to show maps + allow some users to show ESRI feature layers. I would be happy to use the SDK if it allows us to achieve what we need.

Alex,

No, that's not possible.

Yes! There is a free developers option with our ArcGIS Android (and iOS) Runtime SDKs. Here's a summary page of the available plans and the cost: Plans | ArcGIS for Developers‌.

For information on what you can do with the free development and testing plan check out the developers.arcgis.com FAQ (2nd question): Terms of Use - FAQ | ArcGIS for Developers‌.

And, here's information on how to license your Runtime SDK app:

Android - License your app—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android | ArcGIS for Developers

iOS - License your app—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS | ArcGIS for Developers

Did that help?
