Luck Stone, like most mining companies, face numerous challenges such as conducting effective mine resource exploration and operations and enabling efficient field work with authoritative data in support of HSE, land management, mine planning/survey and logistics programs. Luck Stone is leveraging the Esri ArcGIS Platform in an exemplary manner that separates them from many mining users – being early to deploy and showing innovative use of Esri technology. John Blackmore, Luck Stone’s GIS Coordinator has been and continues to demonstrate forward-looking use of ArcGIS including deployment of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server (workgroup), ArcGIS Online and mobile technologies across the Luck Stone Enterprise. John is very knowledgeable and passionate about GIS and has taken the initiative and willingness to share his experiences with the Mining User and Commercial User communities, most recently at the SME Meeting in Salt Lake City Utah, March 2014.  His success with the ArcGIS Platform and his enthusiasm and willingness to share are a quintessential special achievement in GIS. Awarding a 2014 SAG to Luck Stone will help Esri as this expands our awards into Mine Operations workflows and Sand/Aggregate companies and the award will also provide John internal support for his good work and ongoing GIS efforts.
