I ave been promoting the Community Analyst to wider audience .. essentially those we would not expect to install (especially Mac Users) and learn the ArcGIS software.  Community Analyst is one of those options with thousands of variables easily queried, and 'smart searched.'

So lets say, we isolate three variables .. those tracts in So California for example that are highers income, education, perhaps low employment .. with these isolated tracts displayed .. (question:) can we select several hundred geocoded points that intersect those tracts we isolated?

Warren,

At least at this point in time Community Analyst does not have the ability to perform a 'Select by Location' type functionality like we find in ArcMap.  With a census tract Smart Map Search layer one can use the Import Location to map address points so these two layers  are displayed together.  And then using Create PDF tool on the vertical toolbar at the left side of the map one can at least create a map with both of these layers.
