Features disappear on zoom?

I have an AGX 1200 project with a series of boundary shapefiles in it. At the full extent of the shapefiles (all shapefiles have the same extent), I can see all the features of all of the shapefiles. However, when I zoom in, some of them disappear. Some shapefiles work at any zoom level, and some of them disappear when I zoom in. First just part of the features will disappear, like the right half of the extent. Then as I go in further, they disappear completely. None of them have any minimum/maximum display scales set. The ones that work, work consistently, and the ones that fail, fail consistently.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Use the Repair Geometry tool in the ArcGIS's Toolbox to fix this problem.

Further to my original post: I uninstalled 1200 and reinstalled 900, without repairing the geometry or anything. Rolling back to 900 solved the problem, so I don't suspect it's the geometry...?

I would also suggest (if you reinstall 1200) using the delete all caches tool within the ArcGIs Explorer options > Advanced dialog.

This happened in build 900 and happens less frequently in build 1200 (from my experience).  Instead of clearing all the caches for you map, go to the Manage Layers button on the Home tab and highlight the failing shapefile layer and then click on the Clear Cache button.  This clears the cache for the chosen layer, only.

I am experiencing the same problem as skimmer. I followed the suggestion to clear the cache. This worked the next time I opened the map file. But when I opened it the next time the layer had the same problem - it vanished when zoomed in too closely or too far out.

In the old forums, I found a solution for this issue.  They suggested exporting the shapefile to a new shapefile (right click --> data --> export).  This fixed this issue for me.  Hope it helps.  Adam

I can't seem to find a way to get this problem to go away for good. Clearing the cache always seems to fix it, but not the next time I open the map (even if it's in the same ArcGIS Explorer session). I tried repairing the geometry and exporting to a new layer, but neither worked beyond the first time the map was accessed.

If anyone has any new ideas about this issue, I'd love to hear them.

Does the problem go away when you switch the map to 2d?
