Help
I am unable to create any new network datasets today, despite having no problems all this year.
from any shapefile in the catalogue I can go through the process of right click create new network database but when I get to the Finnish button I get an error message 'Cannot create network database. The table was not found'
I cannot connect to previously created network datasets and all previously produced Service Areas will no longer display, the ! icon appears alongside them in the Table of Contents

Solved! Go to Solution.
start a new project, new shapefile/geodatabase (whatever you use) in a new folder...try again. It could be anything from a bad sector on a disk or someone else did some house cleaning
Have you checked to make sure you have network analyst installed, authorized, and enabled?
Yep tried that one sorry, also see post below
Steve
The red ! means that the files have been moved or deleted. Is there any chance that you did some reorganization of the data? or have you move the *.mxd from its location relative to the data? If so, you can simply right click on the layer and chose the data repair data source option and navigate to the location of the missing files. As for the extension being disabled, do you remember doing that overtly? If not, it should still be enabled, but worth a check in any event
Yes it acts as if that all my dataset files have moved somewhere, but I cannot find them
The >data >data repair option can see some [but not all] of the original datasets but it will not connect to them and gives an error caption 'error repairing the layer table not found'
It would be manageable if I could create whole new datasets in the catalogue, the original shapefiles are fine
As mentioned to post above the extension is enabled but I have cycled it on and off to be sure
It is looking like a bug in the programme

Yes
Many thanks that will work and although there is a degree of rework copying shapefiles to the new location it is better than not having the functionality
Again thank you
