How to select multiple features in a web map?

I've created a very simple web map using feature services. What I'd like to do is allow users to select features from within the map itself, that will then show up as highlighted in the attribute. Similar to what the select features tool in ArcMap does. Has anyone had success doing this? I know that you can select individual features in the map, as well as multiple features in the attribute table. Thanks!

Multiple features can be selected at once by holding the SHIFT or CTRL key on your keyboard as you click features to add or remove them to/from the selection. You can also click the Select button on the toolbar to drag a box around the features you want to select.

Hi Erin,

The blog mentioned above refers to an older product. Unfortunately, multiple item selection is not supported through the map viewer in ArcGIS Onlineat this point in time. If this is something that you would like to see added in the future, please support the following idea:

Hi,  It's now 2021, and there still doesn't seem to be this feature which would really, really, really be a good idea for what we do.  Any idea if it will ever be implemented?

Same here in the new map viewer I keep trying to select stuff and nothing works.  Feeling like a rookie here.  Like for a chart - select some features and the chart reacts.  I select the chart and it selects the features but not the other way around.  Really the chart should adjust on zoom but that is a dream I guess.  Why would I want a chart of all the data while in a map?  Just so weird.

I think I've got kind of a solution.  Create a web application, then use the Select widget.

I don't know if this widget is available everywhere, but in my organization it is.  This way you can select multiple features, and look at the selected info in the Table as well.
