Hi all,

I am trying to add an image (.img) to the trial version of arcgis online. I am using ArcGIS for Server 10.3 and ArcMap of the same version.Following is the step by step process of how I am trying to do this:

  • Brought up the image (.img) file that has projection of WGS_1984 coordinate system.
  • Published a service by selecting a connection "arcgis on localhost_6080 (publisher)" with service name "MyMapService"
  • Selected "root" for publish service to folder option.
  • Selected all the default values in the Service Editor, ran the analyze to get rid of errors/warnings message; shared my service with "My Content" and the 'administrator"
  • And published the service.

It then brings the "MyMapService" in "My Content" section with the type "Map Image Layer". When I tried to add the layer to the map, it gives me an error message "The Layer, MyMapService, cannot be added to the map.

I also tried adding the image in the Mosaic Raster Dataset, but it also gives me the same error message.

I checked all the previous blogs related to similar issues, but could not find solutions. I would appreciate if someone could help me figure this out. Thanks!

Best Regards,

Sami

Sami,

You would have to publish the map service to a publicly accessible ArcGIS server in order for it to be accessible to the webmap.
