Hello Geonet,

im looking for clarification as to why when I try to access a map on Collector that is hosted on AGOL and is pulling services from my server, I can access fine when I am use the urls for the services generated by my web adaptor, mymachine/webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service, but not when I use the urls that are mydomain:6080/arcigs/rest/service, when I try to access it then I get the following error "Could not load layer, request timed out"

I can access both fine in AGOL, just not collector.

and collector is using the campus wife so its on our domain.

and I did pump up the max wait time in AGS for each feature but that didnt seem to help.

Randall,

Does the web server machine (mymachine/webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service) have a public IP/ public access?

If yes, then I think the issue could be with the access of mydomain:6080/arcigs/rest/service over internet.

Even though the collector has campus wifi access, it would not act as one of the machines in the domain.

>have a public IP/ public access?

i dont know, how wold i check?

I mean i can connect to mymachine/webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service from my laptop when i am on the campus WiFi but not when i am on my personal hotspot.

Same with the ipad, i can connect to mymachine/webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service when on the campus WiFi but not when i am off it

But i can not connect to mydomain:6080/arcigs/rest/service from my laptop or ipad regardless of if i am campus WiFi or not, it seems the only machine that can access it is my desktop station which is part a computer on the domain.

So only a machine that is connected to the domain can access the :6080/rest/services or webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service the and a machine that is on the campus wifi but not part of the domain can only access webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service and a machine that is not on the campus WiFi can not access anything.

So i get why a machine not on the campus WiFi can not access webadaptor/arcgis/rest/service campus firewalls and io bet that when i get AGS open to the public it wont be an issue.

Anyways thanks for the feed back
