Warning when adding weighted overlay

Hey all,

I created an image service to experiment on a project using GeoPlanner. The image service I created was working fine yesterday. Today, when I try to add it I get this message (screenshot attached) which is not very helpful. I've tried restarting the service on server and uploading but I still keep getting this error. Any ideas on what is causing this?

Thanks,

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

Sorry that you ran into a problem. Try to verify the following:

  1. These services, in order to be used in suitability modeling, must be created using the Weighted Overlay Service Toolbox. This toolbox was recently updated, so you might want to download it again if you haven't for a few weeks.
  2. The mosaic dataset that is the data source for your image layer must have specific fields. These are created by the toolbox mentioned in step 1. Those fields are: Title,Url,InputRanges,NoDataRanges,RangeLabels,NoDataRangeLabels,OutputValues,Metadata. As long as you used the toolbox listed above, you should have those fields.
  3. The ArcGIS Server version that is supported with this functionality is 10.3 or newer. I would advise using 10.3.1 or 10.4x. If you are using 10.3x, respond to this comment and I can offer some additional information.
  4. After you share your mosaic dataset as a service, you need to add that service as an item to your ArcGIS Online organization. To do this, you need the service URL. To get the service URL: (1) In Desktop, right-click your service in your GIS Servers > Your Connection node and choose Service Properties; (2) Click Imaging under Capabilities; (3) Copy the REST URL - it should look something like http://my-server.mycompany.com/arcgis/rest/services/service-name/ImageServer. You should be able to add this URL to a web browser and view the REST item details. If your URL is localhost, you need to change it to your server name.

Let me know how it goes. There are some other options as well.

Thanks Robert, I have done all of this already. I downloaded the Weighted Overlay Service Toolbox last week. However, we are currently using ArcGIS Server V 10.3. Could that be the issue of why my service was working one day and then not then next? Could it be the image service is too big to process?

Thanks for your help!

Charlie

BTW, I'm getting the same error when I try to add image services for weighted overlay from other organizations...

Robert,

I do have some progress. I've found that I can get my image service (CCCP_Demo) to load and work correctly in GeoPlanner when I use a web browser other than Chrome. I installed the latest Chrome update with no luck. Have you heard of Chrome versions being an issue with GeoPlanner? This might be a hurdle using this tool for a current project, as we will have several different users relying on GeoPlanner's functionality.

Thanks again for your help,

Charlie
