Hi All,

I am a new user to ArcGIS Workflow manager, I have the following application Configuration. We have existing sde services and I wish to configure ArcGIS Workflow Manager application.

ArcGIS Workflow Manager 10.1 Desktop
ArcSDE: 9.3.1.562
RDBMS : ORACLE 11g

I am following esri Best Practices for Storing the ArcGIS Workflow Manager Workspace in an Enterprise Geodatabase for Oracle White Paper. We successfully completed Step 2 and now I have certain issues in Step 3 procedure. I exported my existing dbtune_exp.sde. I am not able to understand these following steps.

Create a new DBTUNE keyword following the steps below:
 Copy the ##DEFAULTS keyword and paste it at the end of the dbtune_wmx.sde file.
 Rename it ##WMX and change the tablespace name for the appropriate parameters.

For above steps, I edited my dbtune_exp.sde fiile, I pasted the ##wmx (##wmx to END)content at the end of the file given in the white paper as saved the file as dbtune_wmx.sde and successfully imported the  dbtune_wmx.sde file. I hope the steps I did are correct. For reference I have attached my dbtune_exp.sde and dbtune_wmx.sde file.

When I ran ArcGIS workflow Manager Post Installation after entering instance and go to next part, I selected "Use Configuration Option" Dropbox, I am not able to find my wmx parameters. Pleas find enclose print screen snap.

I am not able to understand the reason, Is my dbtune_wmx file in which I enter is wrong or is there any other issue because of that wmx is not highlighting.

Need help.

Kind Regards
Vivek

Hello Vivek,

1. Open ArcCatalog, connect as Workflow Manager user, and try to create a new feature class, in the configuration keyword drop down, if the wmx configuration keyword does not show up then the dbtune is incorrect.

2. Do not copy the white paper ##WMX dbtune example, instead the you must copy and paste ##DEFAULTS to the end of the exported dbtune text file, don??t forget to rename ##DEFAULTS with ##WMX or it will not show up in the configuration keyword drop down of the Workflow Manager Post-Install, then modify the tablespaces names in the ##WMX configuration keyword.

3. The sde configuration keyword dropdown does not appear in the ??Use Configuration Option? part of the WMX Post-Install.

Hope this helps,

Nishi

Hi Nishi,

Thanks a lot for responding to my query. as I understand have to copy the content from ##default to END and paste it at the end of the file as will save file as dbtune_wmx.sde. In the file for example :I have to modify the tablespaces names under ##WMX XML_IDX_STORAGE            "TABLESPACE CVE_INDEX PCTFREE 0 INITRANS 4", So I will change CVE_INDEX to WMX_INDEX, am I correct. Please suggest.
Could you please check my sde file and suggest the necessary changes.

Thanks & Regards
Vivek

Hello Vivek,

Yes you do need to replace "CVE_INDEX" by "WMX_INDEX". However, if followed the white paper recommendations you need to create many other tablespaces, e.g. WMX_BDATA, WMX_BINDEX, WMX_SDATA, WMX_SINDEX, WMX_FDATA, WMX_FINDEX, WMX_ADATA, WMX_AINDEX, WMX_DDATA, WMX_DINDEX, then replace the tablespace for each configuration keyword properly as showed in the white paper dbtune example.

Hope this helps,

Nishi

Include the UI_TEXT keyword as one of the ##WMX keywords
