Export Annotation to dwg

Hi there!

I have an issue with exporting the annotation of polyline features to dwg.

Basically the export works, but the problem is, that the annotation does have carriage returns and so the annotation in the dwg-file now is MTEXT and not (as usual) TEXT. In the attribute table of the annotation the alignment is "bottom center" which would be fine, but after the export to CAD the alignment is "upper left" which relocates the label.

Its not possible to just edit this in AutoCAD to "bottom center" (as it should be) because in this case only the insert point moves.

I have attached an image which shows the label in ArcGIS (blue) and the exported label (red).

Thanks for any upcoming help

I am also having this problem, and I am running out of ideas to try and fix it. Did you ever figure out a way to get your annotations back to normal?

hi cici, no offense but i've already figured out a solution to my issue. this comment is about three years old.

I did not found a solution to this, so I've exported a shape file, which I've imported in AutoCAD Civil 3D then and created the annotations in AutoCAD. Unfortunatelly the result was not that good and I had to shift some annotations.

Hi Stefan,

Have you seen this Esri Support article?

How To: Export geodatabase feature classes to CAD including annotation using the Export to CAD Tool

Also, this question might be more appropriated in the CAD/GIS Data Integration group/space.

Thank you for your answer, I know the basics for the CAD-Export already. I'm pretty sure it should work with the field "alignment" (created with the "Add CAD-Fields" command), but after the export of the annotation with multiple lines, the alignment is set to "upper left". Unfortunately I can't just edit it to "bottom center", cause the insert point is another.

Thank you, I've shifted the question to CAD/GIS Data Integration.

Stefan,

Was your problem resolved? Can you please verify the steps you took to get it worked out?

Actually my problem was not solved yet. I just did a workaround by exporting the data to a shape-file and imported the shape in AutoCAD Civil 3D, where I create the Annotation then.

Still I would prefer the other way by just exporting the Annotation to dwg because I could create a script in ArcGIS and I don't have the create the Annotation in Civil 3D every time.

Try Unchecking Stack Label in Label Properties and center text ontop of line features.
