Hi..Is there a key to all the icons used in ArcGIS and ArcCatalog?

By "icon" I mean the graphic found beside the different file types such as the rectangle with three dots for point features, boxes for shapefiles and diamonds for geodatabases.

Thanks!

I don't know if there is a single source for all the icons, but many of them are depicted and labeled in the several help sections for ArcCatalog.  This will require a bit of reading and scrolling around, though.

ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)  A quick tour of ArcCatalog

ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)  Making connections in ArcCatalog

ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)  The Catalog tree and item properties in ArcCatalog

For the ones that are not depicted, one can try creating items in a test environment and see what icon appears.  For example, try making a File Geodatabase and observe what icon ArcCatalog gives it.  Then make a Feature Dataset within the File Geodatabase.  Then Make a point Feature Class, etc.

I looked through that list, but I didn't see anything that looks like the icon I've noted with this red arrow. Ideas? icons.PNG

Also the icon I noted above acts as if it's a feature class. Really not sure why the icon appears that way.

That is typically a table / view that is NOT registered with the geodatabase. The client thinks it may be a spatial table but is not sure.

If you double click the layer it will show up with geometry type or table icon.
