Has anyone had experience clipping layers to the extent of a shape in ArcGIS Pro?

It works perfectly on Desktop but in Pro it will only clip to the extent of the layer, not the shape. This gives a square, rather than the shape I want.

Is there an option somwhere that I haven't found yet?

Ahhh... perhaps they removed it because it was causing too much confusion about its purpose...Of course there is the whole terminology change thing... Terminology and user interface reference guide—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS for Desktop   Like an "active data frame" is now an "active view" (just like in ArcView 2.x/3.x... old school)  and it is now called a map view instead of data view or Layout view and when you go there, it is equally informative Add and modify map frames—Layouts | ArcGIS for Desktop

The equivalent of ArcMap's data frame Clip to Shape setting has not been implemented in ArcGIS Pro yet.

One thing you can do in ArcGIS Pro is create non-rectangular map frames on a layout. Select the map frame and then go to the Map Frame Tools ribbon, Design tab, Reshape section for a dropdown palette of shapes.

Ahhh ... I couldn't find it on the list of comparable terms nor on the things that haven't been implemented.  Is there a place where "not implemented" or "no comparable function" resides?  We are going to get more of these functional requests and sure such a list must exist, unless things are being implemented on an "as needed" basis

Sorry, Dan, I don't know the answer to that. I don't know if there is a "master list" that goes into that level of detail, or if there is, how much is available externally.

Hello David,

I can't find the design tab you talk about. Could you help out please ?

Greg-

I love this feature in arcmap and am disappointed that it is not yet supported in Pro. I would recommend that you create a mask layer, then select each feature you'd like to mask under Appearance->Masking, then select the masking layer. This will provide the same end result but just takes a little longer than in ArcMap.

Cheers,

Jake

Absolutely, Clip-To-Shape needs to be added to Pro.  Stunned that it hasn't been added, yet.  Today, I wanted to try out Pro to work around the ArcMap problem where data frames are not transparent when exported to PDF.  The page I found said to use Pro to fix this problem.  HOWEVER, Pro can't do Clip-To-Shape, which my map requires, so it's not up to the task, either.

Please, vote UP on this suggestion in ArcGIS Ideas:

I really hope they add the "Clip to Shape" feature soon.  One work around that I did was to create a Feature Class named "Mask" and then draw it larger than my layout extent.  Then I would use the "Erase" Tool to create my clip.  I just had to move my Municipal layer up to the top so that the boundary line symbol doesn't  get cut off.  Only draw back is if you have layers that symbols overlap the clip and there's more features outside the clip that you don't want shown, you'll have to make sure to symbolize so that your features fall inside.

Ideas are what ESRI uses to decide what features to add.
