I am new to Web Appbuilder. I am trying to build an application using the analysis widget but keep getting the error "Your user role cannot perform analysis. In order to perform analysis, the administrator of your organization needs to grant you certain privileges."  See picture below. All my maps are currently hosted on a local server and accessible through a web portal. I am the administrator, so I figured I should have full permissions. I read elsewhere that the analysis widget currently works only on ArcGIS Online, is this true?Analysis.PNG

Hello:

I am having the same error as sunshine team using portal for arcgis 10.4.1.  I am unable to use the analysis widget and get the same error message.  Has anyone found a solution to this problem?  I have tried using both publisher and administrator roles but the same error results.  I am using Portal & Data Store.  It seems like a permissions issue but not sure how to fix it.  Thank you.

I figured out what my problem was.  This article is great.

All I needed to do was ENABLE analysis for my accounts. To do this log into your Portal as administer.  Go to "Edit Settings"  Then click on "Server".  There you should be able to choose ENABLE analysis.

Worked for me.

I am having the issue on Portal 10.4.1 with Web Tier Authentication (IIS). Anyone get a resolution?

Administrator gets the  following message

Analysis

Your user role cannot perform analysis. In order to perform analysis, the administrator of your organization needs to grant you certain privileges.

Also having issues with the Add Data Widget.  Using WAB Builder Developer edition 2.2. I suspect they have the same underlying issue.  Connected to Portal.

Hi Ian,

To confirm: you're using Web AppBuilder Developer Edition v2.2 connected to Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1, right?

When you initially start Web AppBuilder Developer Edition, do you sign into the app with a named user account that has the appropriate permissions to execute the spatial analysis tools in the Analysis widget?

You'll need to elaborate more on your Add Data widget issue ...

Hope this helps,

Hi Derek,

Thanks for the quick response!

Yes, I am using Web AppBuilder Developer Edition v2.2 connected to Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1.

Environment:

- Local machine is running the Web Appbuilder Developer Edition 2.2.

- Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 is hosted in a cloud environment on a VM

- Microsoft IIS 8 (SSL) with Web Adaptor on dedicated VM.

- Portal is federated with arcgis server.

- Active Directory

I signed in with an account with administrator privileges. When running the analysis widget i get the following message.

"Your user role cannot perform analysis. In order to perform analysis, the administrator of your organization needs to grant you certain privileges."

I also tried using a different account with Publisher privileges and received the same response message.

Finally, I tried the Analysis Tool using Portal's internal WebAppbuilder (rather than the developer edition) and had the same error message! So it seems that this issue may be related to Portal rather than specifically the WAB Developer Edition.

Any Ideas? Silly question, do i need spatial analyst installed on the server if running Portal?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

> I tried the Analysis Tool using Portal's internal WebAppbuilder (rather than the developer edition) and had the same error message!

Can you please login to the federated ArcGIS Server site - specifically, login to ArcGIS Server Manager > Services tab > System folder and see if the SpatialAnalysisTools GP service is running? Web AppBuilder's Analysis widget functionality is based on this GP service; it needs to be running in order for the widget to work.

> do i need spatial analyst installed on the server if running Portal?

No, you don't this extension. The spatial analysis functionality in the Analysis widget is based on the SpatialAnalysisTools GP service of the federated Server site with Portal.

Hope this helps,

Hi Derek,

The "SpatialAnalysis Tools" is running (1 instance running of 2 Maximum).

Thanks

Hi Ian,

You mentioned,

> Environment:

      - Local machine is running the Web Appbuilder Developer Edition 2.2.

      - Portal for ArcGIS 10.4.1 is hosted in a cloud environment on a VM

      - Microsoft IIS 8 (SSL) with Web Adaptor on dedicated VM.

I suspect that the cause of your issues might be related to communication problems between your local machine running Web AppBuilder Developer Edition and the Portal VM. Are the federated GIS Server and ArcGIS Data Store on the same VM as Portal?

I don't have much experience working with VMs. Please contact Esri Tech Support and open an incident, they can help investigate your deployment in more detail.

Hope this helps,
