Hi,

I am trying to run CityEngine on Amazon g2 machine (New G2 Instance Type with 4x More GPU Power)

with Ubuntu 14.04.

So far, I have been able to run the installer and authorize the license.  This tells me openGL is working.

But when I start CityEngine, I just get the splash screen, and then that's it.

Any suggestions on how to debug?

Are there any command line arguments to the executable that would give me hints?

Are there any logs?

Thanks!

Looks like Ubuntu is not supported.  I will try Redhat Enterprise 6 and report back.

Update: That did the trick.  I have CityEngine running in the cloud now

Great, you made it work!

Just for completeness here are the CityEngine 2016.x system requirements—Esri CityEngine | ArcGIS Desktop

The also apply to virtual machines.

It was a bit involved .. I can publish the steps if there is interest.

Curious if you used the Mesa OpenGL runtime libraries, I have a RHEL G2.2xlarge instance that currently has 2.1 support despite the most recent mesa-libGL update...
