I have this problem every single time Windows 10 has an update. The last time, I was able to turn off my print spooler and work in ArcMap, however I obviously couldn't print anything.  I've read that there seem to be a large number of folks having this same problem (application gets hung at launch) and I'm curious if anyone has come up with a solution? Even if it's temporary until the next Windows update, if there is something else I can do so I can actually get into my projects and work, I'm willing to do so.

Are these automatic updates?  If so, do you have the ability to turn auto updates off on this machine until you can test the Windows release on a test computer so it does not impact your production environment?

Hi Michael,

I have the Windows updates set to manually update.  And it may not be that, after the research i've done today but none of the suggestions I've found, have worked. Last time it happened, I was able to just turn of the print spool service but that didn't work this time. Now that I'm thinking back about it, it started happening after we got a new HP plotter. Not really sure how to fix this issue. I really can't do it until I figure out what exactly the issue is. My coworker uses 10.3.1 on a Windows 7 PC.  I am really regretting upgrading to 10. Lol

Are you the only Windows 10 GIS user in your organization that is trying to use the new HP plotter and is having these difficulties?

Can you tell me exactly what model the HP plotter is?

Maybe you need to download updated drivers for your new HP plotter.

Yes, I'm the only one using GIS on Windows 10. We are very small. There are only two of us using GIS in our local municipality.

Our plotter is HP DesignJet Z5600 PS HPGL2

Could be the arcmap version as well.  I have never had issues with 10.4.x or 10.5 when windows 10 upgrades.
