Hi all,

I have received an .mxd file with the geodatabase.

When I Repair the data source it seems to work, but many of the layers are not showing up (their table of attribute is full of details, so the data are there).

If I check all the not showed layer are under the "Not visible" list. When I click on them to make them visible, nothing change so I ma still not able to see them.

I am quite sure the data re alright as I tried to import them in a new blank .mxd file and there they are visible, so is it possible it is something set in the .mxd I have been provided? Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot

What happens if you add the .lyr file to TOC of ArcMap and then (in Topo To Raster tool) you add the input feature from the drop-down rather than browsing the .lyr file from the directory?

You could attach a snapshot of the Topo_to_Raster tool with all the required parameters filled.

For the visibility of layer, check

1. if the layers are checked in TOC (including group layers, if any).

2. if any scale is defined for visibility of layer (Layer Properties > General Tab).

Hi,

with regard to these not visible layers I have received a suggestion from the client. They said that they are able to see the layers as they had to modify the path when opening the .mxd file to indicate the "local" source path on the computer in order to be able to visualize the data. I didn't really get it.

Do you know what does it mean?

Cheers,

It could mean they had copied the data from the network drive to local machine. Then they changed the data source of the layer to the data path in the local machine.

Hi,

I do not really get it. I already copied my gdb on my local machine rather than using the hardrive. and the source path seems to be ok (picking the layer from the gdb on my computer). BTW I have tried to right click on the .mxd in arcCatalag and click on "Set data sources". It looks like all the layers' data sources are from the local pc path..and it doesn't change anything. I do not know if I have to do something different...

Cheers,
