AGOL Application Search Widget generates "no results" message

I implemented a Search Widget in an AGOL Web Application.  The data source is a feature layer (polylines) contained in a map service in the associated Web Map.  The field I am searching is a text field containing the alphanumeric pipe ID of the associated storm drain pipe (e.g. 10P10066).  When I enter the pipe ID and select a pipe ID from the pull-down list (see attached) AGOL returns an error message "No Results Found...".  However, when I copy/paste that exact Pipe ID into the Search input box and select search icon AGOL finds the pipe.  Why do I get a "No Results Found" error message when selecting that exact same pipe from the pull-down list?  This is very useful functionality that I would like to work and not have to direct users to key-in entire name rather than select pipe from pull-down list.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks much,

Steve Branson

Are you using Alternate names? There is this bug that reports a similar issue: : http://support.esri.com/bugs/nimbus/QlVHLTAwMDA5NDkwNg==

As it seems many of you are running into the issue, I would recommend getting in contact with Esri Technical Support‌. Let me know if you need any help getting in contact, but they will probably find the issue faster than Geonet.

Hi Steve,

Are you able to share a link to this app? If not, I'd suggest contacting technical support to look into this issue further.

Thanks for the quick reply Kelly,  Unfortunately, the data itself is behind our firewall.  I'll see if I can upload the data to AGOL and duplicate the problem.  If so, I'll send you a link.  Thanks again.

Thanks Steve,

Additionally, try contacting technical support. They ma be able to set up a screenshare and look into your data and app further.

FDOTD7GIS‌ Were you able to find a solution to this? I think I'm having the same problem. When I search for an address and select a result that appears it says "No results. There were no results found for "6655 JACKSON RD (VAC)". Even though the widget was the one who suggested the result to me.

Hi Chelsea,

Are you searching a feature service or a geocoding service? Where is the data hosted? In ArcGIS Online or a locally hosted server? Do you have a search extent specified in the search widget?

I also suggest getting in contact with tech support to look into the specific issue.

We're having the same issue, with the 'no results found' message after the selecting a choice from the drop down list. See link, and search by name 'Curry' for example-- selecting any choice from the list returns the message.

It's a geocoding service, no search extent

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I should say, when searching if you hit 'enter' and then select a name it does accept the search. If the user clicks on the dropdown before hitting enter, the error appears.

Yes!  I'm not alone.  Chelsea Rozek sorry to hear your having the same problem, but I'm glad I'm not going crazy.  I was not able to solve the problem.  My work-around is to limit Suggestions/Results to 1 (tried 0, but widget would not accept it) and educate user to key-in entire search string and click search icon manually.  It kills me that the user can't select a match from the pull-down as this greatly promotes usability (and that's a prime strength of AGOL in my mind).  If I find a solution to the problem I'll post it here and please do the same on your end.

Thanks for the replySteve Branson‌! I haven't found a solution either since my post. I've increased the accuracy required for a match to eliminate some of the results, but the issue is still there. I haven't put in a support ticket yet, but answering Kelly Gerrow's questions: it's a composite locator published as a geocoding service hosted on our own ArcGIS Server. I don't have local search enabled on the widget, because I originally thought that was the issue. Here's my app: Districts of Washtenaw County, MI . I've had users complain about incorrect political districts when I had the search bar within the Near Me widget because they wouldn't look at the result on the map and get 123 Main St locating to a different city than intended. I've now moved the address search out of the widget so they're forced to click on the map to use the Near Me widget, which hopefully forces them to validate the result if they use the address locator. The specific example I mentioned before is if you type in "6655 JACKSON RD" in my search bar, don't click the magnifying glass (like VillageDG was saying), and just click the first result that automatically appears "6655 JACKSON RD (VAC)", you get that No results error message.
