We are using the Esri.ArcGISRuntime.Portal.SearchParameters to customize a search tool for our end users but it is returning hundreds of records of preinstalled Esri content in multiple languages (ex. Story Map Journal in every language). I would like to be able to delete that content from our Portal or filter it out of the search results. It doesn't appear you could easily filter out all of this content with the available search parameters. Anyone ran into this and have a suggestion?

You should be able to configure portal to only provide search results in only the language(s) you desire.

The option for that is in portaladmin, and started at 10.3.1.

There's not yet a way to remove the default content that ships with Portal for ArcGIS, however there is an existing enhancement request for this functionality.

Randall:  Was digging around to try to find that enhancement and was not able to find on GeoNet or on ArcGIS Ideas.

Can you provide a link?

Not sure how my searches are missing it... Thanks

HI Paul,

Not sure why there's not a public reference for ENH-000090864. I'm familiar with this one because I've worked with a few users desiring this functionality - in fact, I actually wrote this issue from the support perspective.

I can follow up. Meanwhile, I'd like to suggest opening up a support ticket to have your organization added to the list of users who would like to see this enhancement implemented. It's not scheduled for 10.4, but is under consideration for port 10.4.

Hi Randall, has this been actioned yet? We are also having this issue at 10.4.1 - We would like to remove all pre-installed Esri content from the search as our users can't get to it, and it's difficult to find the few organisation published apps we do have. Thanks.

Hi Randall,

I'm also looking for an update on this enhancement request. Has it been implemented in 10.6? if so, what are the steps? I cant seem to find any reference of the issue when searching for ENH-000090864 on support.esri.com. Thanks.

This issue is addressed in ArGIS Enterprise 10.6.

See 'Disable External Content'

This wil not remove the content from esri_apps and in my case, the content from esri_nl. First removed search all other languages, then "Enable External Content" set to false, tried to takeover ownership withTransferOwnership.bat, items still remain in the search for the user, this is not wat we won't.

I'm also having this issue.  We are running Portal 10.6, and cannot seem to find a way to get rid of the esri_apps content.

We want a Portal consisting of our content, and our content only.  At the very least, there needs to be a way to exclude Esri content from the main gallery and search results.  It's very confusing for our users to have a bunch of irrelevant items (esri_apps, etc.) show up in their galleries and search results.

What is the status of this?  "Disable External Content" does not solve the problem.  Quite simply, how do you delete the user esri_apps (which isn't even listed) and its content/items?
