Hi Shaunda, there's not a way to do that without quite a bit of customization
We've seen customizations to provide a longer description of the whole Shortlist:
Boston Green Links
Presidential Colleges
but I've not seen one that adds extra descriptive text to individual tabs, like you can add to tabs in the Story Map Series app.
The alternative would be to have the first place in each tab be a description, perhaps with an Info icon, but might look a bit odd. Plus in general I think users tend not to read descriptions when there are interactive things on-screen that they can click on instead.
