Warren, try Moving Your post to the https://community.esri.com/community/gis/applications/arcpad?sr=search&searchId=536135bb-0b12-4a96-a...‌ site.  Your will get more views from those that know ArcPad.  You can also tag any/other groups like I did above to get more exposure using th @ and the geonet space/group.

Thanks for sharing the @ mention info, Rebecca!

Warren - Thanks for asking your questions and welcome to the GeoNet community! I wanted to let you know that we're moving your question to the ArcPad space so our Esri and user subject matter experts can further help answer this and future questions.  So you're aware on how and where to post your questions, here's a few quick tips and reminders:

  • First, use the GeoNet search (top right corner by your profile icon) to search and see if your question has already by asked/answered previously.

I can't help much to resolve your issue, but one thing I would try is

  • take a copy of the axf with a shorter name, like Test.axf, just in case there is an issue with the filename length.  I see yours is about 21.3  ... RIO_Field_Database_v8.axf
  • Although old, take a look thru The ArcPad Team Blog: What is an ArcPad AXF?   It is from when the axf format was pretty new
  • Check that your SQL Express version is compatible with your version (sound like that is where axf is stored (I haven't used axf files in this way...still using ArcPad 7.1 and shapefiles)
  • read thru some of these past posts

It would be helpful for others to diagnose if you include you ArcPad version, ArcGIS Desktop version, SQL Express version (if applicable) and maybe even OS version.
