I have run into a weird check in issue using ArcPad 8, SP4 - ArcMap 9.3.1 SP2.  This is a simple project with only one feature class being edited.  Data was checked out using ArcPad Data Manager toolbar a new .axf with only that one layer.  Staff then collected 61 new features, modified one, and was ready to check the data back in (data collected on Trimble GeoXT, running ArcPad 7.1.1).  The "Get Data From ArcPad" window shows that 61 features were 'Added,' and 1 was 'Modified.'

See 1st attachement (screenshot).

I then open 'Get Data From ArcPad' window in ArcMap, select the .axf with edits, then select the feature class, click 'Check In.'  I am not editing and get the window warning that I am about to check in without being in an edit sesson, click 'Yes,' and I get a report that:
"1 out of 1 AXF files were processed.  Here are the results:
* There were no edits in the selected layers in G:\GIS_Data......"

See 2nd attachment (screenshot).

Nothing is then checked in into the fGDB and the 'Added' and 'Modified' window then will show that there are still edits to be checked in, no matter how many times I've tried it.  I've done the check in routine several times now, some while editing, some while not.  I've created a blank project with just that one layer and tried to check it back in, same results.

Anyone else seen this, and if so, figured out a work around or a cause for this issue???

Thanks.

Two things I would check/do:

1.  Open up the axf file in ArcPad Studio, do Show Data on the layer, and confirm that the AXF_STATUS column is only showing values of 1 (Created) or 2 (Modified).  If not, alter those values appropriately with a SQL UPDATE query and try the check-in again.

2.  Check in data via the Check-In Data tool in the ArcCatalog toolbox ArcPad Tools.  I have experience problems in the past checking in data when using the ArcPad Data Management Toolbar in ArcMap such that I stopped using it altogether.  It doesn't fail all the time but it was often enough that I stopped using it.

I am having the same issue. I am using ArcPad 10 with the ArcPad Data Manager.  My database is slightly more complicated with about 7 related tables, but ever since moving from the old toolbar to the ArcPad Data Manager, I have had 3 out of 4 check in's fail in some way. 1 Check-in didn't check in a single record.

I was unable to edit any data with SSMS as it upgraded the Compact Database to 3.5. Then ArcPad wouldn't read it.

I do have same issue, some edits can't be checked in from AXF file.

Did any of you find a solution to this problem of checking in data to ArcPad?

Or did you just give up on ArcPad?
