I created a simple polygon feature class and added four polygons. When I select a polygon and attempt to delete it I get one of two error messages:

1. Delete Field [FID] is required and cannot be deleted. or

2. Delete Selected Features Delete Selected Features failed. The selection contains no editable features.

In the attribute table FID values are shown for each of the 4 features.

What is going on here?

Just closed and reopened the project and was able to delete the polygons. There are a lot of things I like about ArcPro, but there are also a lot of bugs. Reminds me of the early days of ArcGIS 8.x. That was not a pleasant experience either.

Hope you are listening ESRI...

I just had this problem trying to delete a point. Restarting ArcGIS Pro did not solve it. Then I clicked on the List by Editing (pencil icon) in the Contents pane. The point layer for that item was not selected. I selected it, making the layer editable, and was then able to delete the single point.

Burt,

What kind of a database are you using? gdb, mdb or sde?

The default, gdb.

Try to export the feature class into a local gdb created and stored in a different location and see if you are able to replicate the issue.

What helped for me was moving to a higher license level. I think I was in Advanced when I created the feature, but was having difficulties like this in Basic. Going back to Advanced did the trick.
