I have been having the same thoughts as you in regard to using the Arcgis Platform for people in need to get the help they need. I did think about a public survey but then I thought about privacy issues that might result from that. For example if a person needs something (Groceries, Child Care, Food Delivery, etc.) they would have to give a location so the helping individual would know where to deliver it to. I suppose though that is a just a sacrifice the person reaching out for help would have to make. I am kind of just rambling out loud here and I apologize for that but like I said I have ideas and out of those ideas also arise other unintended consequences that have to be thought out. A simple survey would consist of the following: 1. Their needs 2. Their location 3. Level of urgency with a rating scale 4. Phone number 5. Permission for Volunteer to contact Yes or No 6. Permission only for Coordinator to conact (This would be the person in charge of the operation) Yes or No. Volunteers would then see this information on a map or dashboard and would response as they had the time or resources to meet the need.

I am just curious to see what others have made available and designed to help the business community in your area during this virus outbreak? I started with something simple where I made a survey for businesses to fill out to communicate operations changes and then I have shared a link to the map in Arcgis Online for public viewing. I'm looking for other solutions to help others in this crisis as well. Thanks in advance for your input.

I would classify myself as a beginner at best using Arcmap. I currently have an attribute table and feature class called WaterMeter and a field in that attribute table called City_Mater. The field properties are text and a 50 character limit. I have tried running python to assign a default field value for all of the individual features for the field City_Mater field so that the default value is Copper. I have tried to run it several different ways in the python tool but with no success. Could someone provide me with some insight? Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion Dan. I am still awaiting our office personnel to export the data as it is not a function that they do on a routine basis, they have contacted their tech support for more information on how to perform that function. When I attempt your suggestion I will update. Thanks again.

In Arcgis Online, when trying to invite new members to our organization I get an error that states insufficient user types available. Is this because you have to purchase subscriptions in order to invite the new members? In other words, if I wanted to add 5 people to our organization I would have to buy 5 licenses for them to viewers, publishers, etc? Is there something else that is causing the issue. I have the role of creator but all administrative privileges.

The small utility I work for uses Tyler Technologies Incode for the utility billing for our water customers. I can have the office workers export the addresses and meter information to a csv or excel file. How would I go about taking that information and putting it into my attribute fields for my water meter layer in Arcmap so I don’t have to go in and manually enter all of the addresses and meter information?
