Hello, Should I upgrade my SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012 R2 first then upgrade to ArcGIS 10.3 for Desktop and ArcGIS 10.3 for Server? Or vice-versa? Does it matter? Any advice on the matter. Thanks

Need advice on setting up my security. I do not want to cause my services to be disconnected when I install the Web adaptor and configure security settings. Will I be able to run my internal Web map with current map service and also run my secure map service using the Web adaptor?

Hello, FYI, I am a novice. OVERVIEW I have read material discussing how to create an external web so the user can enter in his or her username and password. This can be done by using ArcGIS API for Javascript (IdentityManager) and configuring GIS server security settings (roles and users). The deployment scenario I am thinking of using is for a single machine. My main concer is security. My basic steps;(A) decide what method to configure ArcGIS security (ArcGIS Server Authentication or Web Server Authentication), (B) If option Web Server Authentication is best, then install ArcGIS Web Adapter, (C) Check System requirements for ArcGIS Web Adapter, (D) Single Machine Site (creates a reverse proxy-DMZ using ArcGIS web Adapter). BASIC QUESTIONS: I have an existing internal map and a GIS server (Server 10.1) and Web Server (MS SQL 2008 R2). Once I configure my GIS server's security settings... Will the configuration scamble my feature services where I have to reset from arcMap and publish to my GIS server? basically hiding port 6080. Will the configuration change my internal web map's feature services, web tiled services, etc...? Is there a HOW-TO document discussing the process of moving a low secure GIS Server to a high secure GIS server? Any problems I should know before configuring my GIS Server? Thanks J

Thank You! So, since I currently do not have access to my company's GIS server but soon will, I have been reading about GIS server security and ArcGIS API for javaScript. It appears I will be able to create a log-in using Identity Manager. The identity manager is notified through the HTTPS feature service secured by way of GIS Server Manager (setting up roles and security) and ArcGIS Web Adapter (reverse proxy). Of course before I write code and point my feature service to the web map. I need to work in Server for ArcGIS Manager. There I will find a couple of options. Furthermore, I understand there are two options in Server for ArcGIS 10.1 Manager...ArcGIS Server authentication (tokens) and Web Server authentication (ArcGIS web adapter). For security purposes, I need the second option Web Server Authentication. Any more suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I am researching how to convert a Intranet (internal) web map application to a Internet (external) web map. The data is private. Theoretically, I want the user to be able to access it outside of the internal network. I may be able to copy the Web viewer and paste it to a HTTP. If the user has to access if via a 'Sign In,' then this approach will work. I cannot use ArcGIS Online. I do not have ArcGIS for Portal. I have ArcGIS for Server 10.1. Looking for options via ArcGIS for Server, Sign In, or another approach? Thanks

Hello, Thank you for your response. I basically want to be able to access our web map application from remote areas with little to no internet service. Accessing or publishing data is not a concern since I only have two users. Will I be ok with Portal for ArcGIS 10.1? Or am I looking to upgrade? J

Hello all, I would like to add a print view button so staff can see what they will be printing. I have looked in ArcGIS API for javaScript but only found information on how to print. Seems to be a way to also print preview or view print extents. Thanks
