Anyone out there are adopting the LGIM format as their master format for data update and maintenance? We are just starting to load the LGIM with our data. We have not developed any Extract/Transfer/Load routines to do this - so far it has been a manual effort. We would consider maintaining our data in the LGIM format, rather than maintaining a separate master dataset in a different format and periodically refreshing layers in the LGIM. Just curious how others are working with the LGIM, and if this model is being adopted internally for uses beyond the ArcGIS for Local Government maps and apps.

We are just beginning to load the Local Government Information Model for use with the ArcGIS for Local Government maps and apps, starting with the My Government Services map. The Site Address Points layer does not have fields for Street Prefix, Street Type, Street Suffix, or Zipcode. Just curious why these basic address components are not in the address layer, and if anyone misses them!

Is it possible to automatically create a polygon of a specific size without doing it interactively ? In other words, I'd like the user to click on the map, and have a single polygon of a specific size created as a single-click operation, centered on where they click. We would like to do this with a couple of different polygon layers. Each layer would have a specific size. For example, one layer would consist of polygons that are 10'x10'. A different layer might consist of 3'x3' polygons. Are there tools in ArcToolbox that could be used to do this ? If so, we could probably create a model or python script tool. The polygons would not be contiguous, so fishnet might not work for this.

Hi Miguel I wanted to find out from you if you came right in being able to automate (python script) to export a geodatabase schema and data to XML? Regards I did not pursue the python automation of XML export. Exported the data manually instead.

Hi Denise, We were also having problems with Annotation in ArcGIS Mobile. This annotation looks and behaves perfectly in ArcGIS Desktop, but there is a lot of overposting on Mobile. The fonts and colors look fine - the problems are the overposting and placement. We just installed Build 2550 but it still happens - see attached image showing jumbled annotation. The quality updates listed for 5220 include this reference to anno in the Mobile Project Center - is there anything we can do from Mobile Project Center to improve the behavior of annotation ? There are no quality updates listed for Annotation in ArcGIS Mobile itself: NIM067039 ?? When displaying your map content using the Mobile Project Center application, we have improved upon how we display Annotation from a geodatabase annotation feature class. We are using the Desktop workflow for ArcGIS Mobile (not the ArcGIS Server workflow) -- creating the map cache and copying to USB flash drive for mobile device. Thanks for any info on how to improve annotation for ArcGIS Mobile - let me know if you need any more information. - Miguel

Martin, This PDF document is an awesome resource - thanks for posting it. I do wish I had found it sooner. It should be promoted higher as a "how to use ArcGIS Mobile" resource within the Esri web site. Kenneth, Start out by taking a look at this document that outlines How to Deploy an ArcGIS Mobile Project with ArcGIS Desktop. Cheers,

I just downlaoded the ArcPad 10.0.3 from the eval download link, and tried to install it. I uncompressed all install files as suggested. The install runs for a while then gets stuck with 40 seconds left to go, while copying "C:\Windows\Fonts\esri_30.ttf". Anyone else have this problem ? Is it just a problem with the 10.0.3 eval release ? I have admin rights to my PC. I notice that the properties for the Fonts folder is "Read-only (Only applies to files in folder"). Do I need to change the properties of this folder before running the install ? The OS is Windows 7 Professional (SP1), 64-bit OS.

Is it possible to see a list of the invitations I have sent to join a group ? I know you can see a list of the group members. What I have not found is a way to see a list of the people I have invited. This would help me make sure I have sent out invitations to everyone that needs to be in the group.

Is there a way to automate entering COGO descriptions using Python ? For example, for COGO descriptions that are several pages long. Is it possible to automate the data entry by parsing these long COGO statements and combining them with Python scripts ? Either a Python script that accepts a text file as input, or a hardcoded Python script with the pre-parsed COGO descriptions embedded into it. Just wondering what techniques / best practices are out there.

I have a referenced Mosaic Dataset pointing to a Raster Catalog in a File Geodatabase. The Raster Catalog contains 64 raster images. When I preview the Mosaic in ArcCatalog, all of the image footprints draw, but only the first 20 of the 64 images draw (see attached snapshot). If you zoom in, all the images draw. Likewise in ArcMap only the first 20 images draw at the full extent, but they all draw when you zoom in. Full extent in this case is 1:45K, but you have to zoom in to 1:15K to see all tiles. How can I get all the images in the Mosaic to draw at the full extent ? Also, is there a way to make the Mosaic draw faster ? All images have pyramids built. Is there another alternative to Raster Catalog and Mosaic datasets that would give better performance ?

In My Map when you click on "What kind of layers can I add?", it says "ArcGIS Server map, image, and feature services, KML documents, and OGC web services." Other kinds of content such as map packages or layer packages are not supported by My Map. You can get Map Packages and Layer Packages into My Content, but you cannot get those into My Map.
