Hi, We have a requirement to find the nearest feature and its distance from another layer in our web application. In other words, We have a source point featureclass 'location' and if a new location is created in the web application , we have to find its nearest competitor & its distance from 'competition' featureclass. For this, we have created a geoprocessing service and in that, Spatial Join tool is used to find the closest feature and its distance. There is a random failure in this service. Please help if there is any other alternative way using arcgis server rest apis / urls to meet this requirement. We are using ArcGIS Desktop 10.1 Desktop standard and ArcGIS Server 10.1. Since we have arcgis desktop 10.1 standard licence, we are not able to use generate near table or near related tools, so we used spatial join. Thanks,

I am facing the same issue. While publishing the map service in arcgis server 10.1 with a SDE layer, getting the error like base string invalid. Any clues to solve it.

Hi, Is that possible to create user with different name say 'sdearc' instead of default username as 'sde' while setting up sde master geodatabase in ArcGIS10.1 (oracle 11g)?

Hi Sachin, It can be real time or near real time, but not late :(. It can be either way - push or pull. But users will not request - It should automatically happen. whenever a record is created in geodatabase from GIS application, it should be automatically notified to X application in any way (on creation of record in GIS, automatically storing in other database/table that 'X' application is consuming or X application will monitor either the geodatabase or its own table continuously for new record). you could suggest us any options or other, it would be great. Please let me know for any other information required. Thanks for your response.

Thanks again.. The problem here is we don't have any control on enhancing GIS application and GIS application is already in place. And we cannot send message from GIS application that a record is created. Users will create the record only in GIS application and the data should flow to X web application real time. Whatever, we have to do from 'X' web application that is seeking GIS Data or from the Database / from Geodatabase. Please know your suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks Vangelo for your response. I meant the Oracle Trigger and I am also wondering the trigger between different databases. And it is non-versioned geodatabase. So your opinion is like to customize the 'X web application' to continuosly check / monitor the required featureclass and whenever the record gets created in GIS, it can pick the GIS data and store whereever necessary. Is this right or please let me know for any other suggestion. Appreciating your help!!

Hi, Our users have a GIS web appliation where they will create a feature and this will get saved in Geodatabase (Oracle/ArcSDE10.1). And we don't have any control in modifying / enhancing that GIS application. We have another web application 'X' that will interface with GIS records. Requirement is that: Whenever a feature is created in GIS, it should be notified to 'X' application real time. The required data of that created feature should automatically flow to another Oracle Database that 'X' application is using. So that 'X' web application will fetch from its oracle db and know that GIS record is created. Is there any best way that we can accomplish this functionality from Geodatabase / services / triggers etc?

Hi, We found the root cause for the failure of 'LocatorReport' BA REST Service execution (with Calculation Method as Drive Distance). But we could not find the solution. Problem is that: While installing BA server 10.0 data, we noticed that two edk files (Disk 1\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server10.0\Business Server\Data\StreetMapData\trans\Streets.edk and StreetsCarto.edk) are not getting installed. After installation, when we see, these two edk files are not found in the installed folder (D:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGIS\Server10.0\Business Server\Data\StreetMapData\trans). This causes 'LocatorReport' BA REST service endpoint to fail leaving the error message that I mentioned in previous reply. Could you please let us know whether there are any workaround for this installation issue or are we missing some steps during installtion? Please help us with this.

Thank you Chris for your kind reply. Yes, we installed the Data from BA Server DVD. On running the setup.exe from ArcGIS_BA_Server_10.0\Disk 1, we installed Data also. The folder structure of Data in the Disk1 is like ArcGIS_BA_Server_10.0\Disk 1\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server10.0\Business Server\Data. Sample Locator Report: http://<server>:8500/ArcGIS/baserver/REST/services/DefaultMap/BAServer/LocatorReport/execute This service endpoint is exceuted with all parameters passed in POST (html body). We installed ArcGIS Desktop in one of the server machine and added data license (.sdlic) via ArcGIS Administrator. Then this LocatorReport is executed fine without any errors. But Client will not accept installing Arcgis desktop in server machine. So we have to add data license in server by some other way. Error on executing LocatorReport service is: {"error":{"code":-2147467259,"message":"Error ID 100008. Algorithm execution error.","details":["Error code: 0x80004005\nError description: Error ID 100004. SOAP/REST API wrapper execution error.;\nFunction: CAsbRequestHandler::ExecuteFunction;\n\nError ID 100008. Check data license.;\nFunction: DatasetUtilities::OpenNetworkData\n"]},"messages":[]} Please let me know if any other information is required. Thanks for your help again. We would like to run the Locator Report without this error as soon.

Hi All, We have ArcGIS Server 10, BA Server and BA Data installed in Windows Server 2008. And we don't have any desktop components in this server. We have (BA10_US_Basic_2010.sdlic) data license file and we would like to Add this Data License in this Server. Usually data license will be added via ArcGIS Desktop Administrator / ArcGIS Configuration Manager (ArcGISAdmin.exe) - Add Data License OR double clicking the .sdlic file. Both these options will work only if ArcGIS Desktop is installed. Since ArcGIS Desktop is not installed in the Server machine, we are stuck to add this data license in Server. In other words, how to add / install license file (*.sdlic) to ArcGIS Server/ BA Server (without ArcGIS Desktop)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The background for trying to add this data license (BA10_US_BAsic_2010.sdlic): We are using Business Analyst Server REST Service Endpoint - "LocatorReport" to calculate the drive distance between points. This LocatorReport Service uses StreetMap Data (BA data) for calculating the drive distance and it expects data license.

Hi, We have ArcObjects 10 SDK for Microsoft .Net framework for extending and customizing ArcGIS Desktop applications. In a similar way, is that possible to customize the commands present in Business Analyst toolbar using BA objects and .Net. If any, could you please share us the link.. Our actual requirement is: We are creating custom bds layer using Custom BDS data setup wizard in Business Analyst toolbar. Everytime we are creating it manually. We would like to automate the custom bds layer creation process keeping the required fields and calculations in configuration xml files or dbf templates. How to automate this custom bds creation process using BA objects / .Net / or through any other API's/approaches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
