We are experiencing a glitch in our upgrade of ArcGIS Server from 10.3.1 to 10.6.1, that has both our contractor and ESRI stumped. I wonder if anyone has come across it? The issue is this. We have 10 geodatabases in SDE, SQL Server 2012 r4. The GDBs are currently at 10.3.1 format 6 of the 10 gdbs behave as expected On the other 4 of the 10 gdbs… They will not allow editing using Operating System Authentication (OSA). The error is insufficient permissions. They will allow editing as the GDB owner. This behavior ONLY occurs when editing with ArcMap 10.6.1. When editing with Arcmap 10.3.1 editing via OSA is allowed, and behavior is as expected. the same behavior is observed when the SDE GDBs are upgraded to 10.6.1 format. Has anyone else experience this?

thanks for your feedback Danny. We did get it done, it works great. AGO/ADFS via in AD -claims aware trust -access control , permit specific group -add relying party trust -send LDAP attributes as claims -dpwm;pad adfs federation metadata.xml in AGO -set enterprise login -set identity provider via a metadata.xml file from-encrypt assertion, update profiles on sign in then start inviting AGO members.

we too are changing our AGO member seats to active directory authentication. My question is, can ADFS/SAML be activated on JUST ONE active directory group? Does anyone out there in GIS world have a setup like this? I'm trying to gauge if this is common practice or if we are heading into uncharted waters. your feedback is appreciated, thanks, Cathy Almberg GIS Specialist, City of Palm Coast FLorida calmberg@palmcoastgov.com 386.986.3741

I want to depict changing property values over 10 years. I've played with Continuous Timeline in ArcGIS online, and "time-enable" in ArcMap. But I'm not impressed with either. Perhaps I'm just not employing them effectively. Does anyone have good examples / methods, or can refer me to a blog or other site specific to mapping changing temporal values?

Andrew is the feature class locked because it is being used by... 1. multiple users, 2. a ArcGIS server service 3. a random Arcmap.exe lock in Task Manager? if 1, you can break connections as Administrator in SDE / Administration / Locks & Connections & Privileges if 2, stop the service in ArcCatalog / ArcGIS Server connection if 3, open Task Manager, find the random Arcmap.exe (or Arc-whatever) and end the process. Now let me ask you a question. I'm looking for a source of impedance values based upon road classifications, ie 'LOCAL' 'LOCAL UNPAVED' 'MAJOR ARTERIAL' 'MAJOR COLLECTOR' 'MINOR ARTERIAL' 'MINOR COLLECTOR' 'PRINCIPAL ARTERIAL' it sounds like you've come up with these values. Would you share? Thanks if you can, any help is appreciated. calmberg@palmcoastgov.com

Thanks for the good information, I ended up loading stop signs as cost point barriers. Which leads to the next issue, what is a good amount of time to attribute to stopping at a stop sign? Most of the roads are residential. For instance, I guess-timated that it takes 5 seconds to stop, 5 seconds at the sign, and 10 seconds to accelerate to the speed limit. Now this is guessed and very general, are there any good sources / formulas out there? And here's another thought. The roads have FClass classification, which are Florida Road classifications. The classes are 'LOCAL', 'LOCAL UNPAVED', 'MAJOR ARTERIAL', 'MAJOR COLLECTOR', 'MINOR ARTERIAL', 'MINOR COLLECTOR', 'PRINCIPAL ARTERIAL' Does anyone know of previous analyses that have been done, that calculated average Minutes based upon road classification? That would be ideal. thanks for the help!

I'm creating service areas for an emergency response entity, based upon areas that can be reached in 5 minutes. That is easy enough, however I am not sure how to incorporate stop signs into the analysis. Do they go in as Point Barriers / restrictions? And how should they be attributed? thanks for the help

You may want to get in touch with Mark Reddick, the telecom tool developer for ESRI. He can fully go over the toolset functionality, so you can decide if you want to upgrade your ArcGIS desktop license. mreddick@esri.com I work for a small municipality with underground fiber service to commercial customers. We've incorporated the ESRI telecom model and tools to inventory our fiber infrastructure. However we have reached the limits of its capability and are window-shopping for a more robust Fiber Management Solution. Given our size and budget we are focusing on Crescent Link and 3-GIS.

same issue for us - we are creating an arcgis online application of DOT crash data. We have 11 tables per year, for a 5 year span, that have a 1 to many relationship with crash location features. A join won't work and if there is no Arcgis Online solution I'll have to set my user up with arcview - which I really don't want to do. Any update on the fix?

when generating fiber cables you have to copy / paste the original cad data by each predefined fiber cable template. in the esri fiber editing toolbar... 1. open the telecom workspace 2. start editing on your telecom file gdb 3. in the create features window you should create the fiber cables templates you need for your data. IE by fiber strand count and buffer tube count. 3.5 once you've created the fiber cable templates, using the esri fiber editing toolbar, stop editing and close the telecom workspace. save your mxd. 3.6 using the esri fiber editing toolbar, open the telecom workspace, start editing. 4. from the original cad data select the fiber cables, by fiber strand count and buffer tube count, that you want to copy/paste 5. in create features window select the fiber cable, with the matching fiber stand count and buffer tube count, to paste to. 6. copy / paste, using the Standard toolbar 7. you should see generated the fiber cable, the related fiber strand and buffer tubes. 8. example: select all CAD linework that represents 144 fiber strands in 12 buffer tubes. copy and paste these features to your telecom model using the Create Features window/144 fiber strands in 12 buffer tubes feature. alternate approach - simply digitize each fiber cable using the appropriate fiber cable template, with the appropriate fiber strand and buffer tube count. it is the same principle for the point features that generate multiple related records, such as patch panel and fiber interconnect. here's the bad news. you cannot split a fiber cable. if a splice occurs after a fiber cable is laid, in the model you must delete the entire fiber cable, then redigitize it as 2 (or more) segments. This means you have to re-establish the fiber splices at sll splice Closures connected to those fiber cable segments. if you find a way around this let me know!

it's possible in ArcGIS explorer online as a map note option (text). and I see Text in Map notes in ArcGIS Online as a Legend Item, but when you Edit Map Notes, the Text item is gone. sounds like another ESRI oversite, how about an enhancement guys?
