Dear Co-GIS-Users, I have an ArcMap Project in the WGS_1984_UTM_Zone_40N coordinate system (for north-east Iran), using data and shapefiles from different sources. For the xy-data and the image I use as basemap, I defined the above coordinate system which the map-image is originally in as well as a DEM of the area. Other shapefiles (roads, rivers etc.) had no coordinate system defined. I defined it by creating a new feature dataset and adding the files into it. However, even though all of my data now have the same (geographic and projected) coordinate system, they are shown very far apart. If I try to align them, e.g. by clicking "set data source" in the properties window or by creating links in Editor-Spatial Adjustment, the shapes of the features change completely. I have this problem no matter the order in which I add the data into a new map project. Does anyone have a hint on what the problem might be and how I could overlay the data? Many thanks, Corinna

Also, there are not commands shown and when I try a command in the "Command Text" window, I receive error messages including "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Thanks for your reply, Dan Patterson. I was not yet trying any expression, but just installed the programs. The error message appears everytime I open GME. I could see that the link to R does not exist under "citations".

Good Day, I would like to create a grid over my map that can be used for analysis. I was advised that this can be done using Hawth's tools which has been replaced by the "Geospatial Modelling Environment" (GME)which is dependent on ArcGIS and R. Therefore, I've installed R and GME, but GME does not connect to R (as I can see when testing the citation). I have the newest versions of all 3 softwares. The error message I received was (German): "Message: Die arithmetische Operation hat einen Überlauf verursacht. Source: SEGME" [~The arithmetic operation has caused an overflow]. Could anyone please explain to me in laymen terms how I could fix or avoid this problem? Cheers, Conny
