Hello Scott, I've been having students load ArcExplorer on their phones for field access to our university land database, hosted in ArcGIS Online. I was told recently that they could not find that app in their app stores and, after reading your blog post of deprecation, now I know why. What needs to be done to get those same maps to show up when searching in Field Maps? In Explorer, they did not need to be signed in but to just search for UF.SFRC and choose the map they want. Thanks, Dave

Please do! It seems like a bug to me, not being able to turn this off and it is very annoying when pick lists are longer than just a couple options.

Personally, I'd like to completely turn off the Recent 'feature' as I always want to see my complete pick lists in the order I've chosen.

This 'feature' is certainly annoying, especially when the pick list is longer than just a couple options. Often during data collection, I have a value in mind then have to hunt for it among the Recent and Other values. I'd prefer to just see the ordered list of values.

I have the same question about how to turn off this 'feature'. When in the field, a user has a value in mind to enter but when the pick list shows up, they have to mentally look through the list that is no longer in alpha or numeric or hard-coded order looking for the value they want to enter. This is especially tedious when the pick list has more than a few values.

I agree that the old ArcMap table Statistics (Right-click a numeric field --> Statistics) was quicker and more intuitive. I'd like that function back rather than having a chart saved in the project (that I just have to delete).

Rather than deal with nulls, I did a selection [Problem Field] IS NULL then used the field calculator to replace <null> with "" Not very elegant, a bit tedious, but it works and then allows my old concatenation calculation to work properly. I've wasted enough time on solving this. Dan, in another post you talk about not having tables with nulls. How do you create a new feature class in a geodatabase that contains no nulls? Dave

Bob, I have the same problem using the field calculator in a geodatabase feature class to concatenate values. I have tried a few snippets of things posted here and I either get a blank space where a <null> would be or the entire result is <null> when the calculation hits a <null> field. I've tried + and & with similar results. I thought I had this licked once but can't find a saved .cal file so here I am again ...

Dan, thank you for all this. I have been wrestling with <null> values in Geodatabase tables for awhile and still have not totally cracked that nut. I took your field calculator code and modified it to fit my fields. I selected the Python parser and pasted that code string in the lower box so that ST_Code= "".join([str(i) for i in [!ST_Orig!,!ST_Type!,!ORIG_Yr!,!HARV_Cd!,!HARV_Yr!] if i]) It works with the exception of one niggling thing: If ST_Orig is <null> or blank, the process completes but puts a leading blank space in front of the calculated string. In the old VB code, I used a trim() function to get rid of spaces in the concatenated string. Is there something similar in Python? Thanks, Dave

Thanks, this worked perfectly (after I used the actual field names instead of the aliases).

Referring to the table snippet above, each record has five fields for the last five fiscal years. The data will be either the number of that year or zero. I need to calculate the Burns_5Yrs field based on the count of the number of non-zero years (in fields FY11 - FY15) in that record. The first three rows have examples manually entered. For example, the first record has activity in FY11 and FY14 so the result for Burns_5Yrs should be 2. The second row is also 2 and the third row is 4. I've been doing this manually but now I have a table with 198 records so I'd like a programming solution, preferably in Python. Any help would be appreciated as I really don't know where to start. Maybe the attached table will help. And of course the error message in ArcGIS isn't selectable to copy and paste ...

Thanks Joshua but your code returns multiple errors. Mine was written using the label expression builder and produces labels that look like this with no errors: However, as you can see, the red underlined label portions contain zero values. I want that portion of the label (everything between the / / ) to not show up if the value is zero. So, the NT label would show only that and the second line would not appear while the CYns label second line would only show TPA P: 40 / TPA H: 40 and the SLp1966f second line would show TPA P: 256 ... Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your time. Dave

I have a similar labeling problem and thought this code would help but it does not do what I thought it would. Here is my label expression: def FindLabel ( [stand_code], [Avg_TPA_Pine], [Avg_TPA_Cyp], [Avg_TPA_Hdwd] 😞 label = "" try: if [Avg_TPA_Pine] > 0: label += "TPA P: " + [Avg_TPA_Pine] + " / " if [Avg_TPA_Cyp] > 0: label += "TPA C: " + [Avg_TPA_Cyp] + " / " if [Avg_TPA_Hdwd] > 0: label += "TPA H: " + [Avg_TPA_Hdwd] return [stand_code]+ '\n'+ label except: return [stand_code] I thought this would add the data to a label only if the value of the field was > 0. A typical label might look like: SLn1937f TPA P: 158.8 / TPA C: 14.1 / TPA H: 9.4 However, if any of the values on the second line are 0, they should not appear, like: CYns TPA C: 200 And a label with 0 values for all three fields should look like: NT Instead, this code creates labels that include the 0 values, like: NT TPA P: 0 / TPA C: 0 / TPA H: 0 What am I missing? Thanks, Dave
