@ Gregory L'Azou Thank you this helps! I'm not a developer and thus delving into having one map reference what's in the other. I can just take the text I've inserted from the story map as a journal and then configure it into a series. It may be better off this way as the "story" will flow a little different. Regarding your second question I'll play with that a little more when I get the series built but this helps a lot too. Thanks a bunch! Cheers, Dave

Hi All, I'm wondering if it's possible to take a map application I've made, which is currently housed in the story map journal application format, and move it to another app template such as the map series? I'd like to not to have to re-create the entire map in the new format I'm wanting. But, if that's the only way to do it that's what I'll do. In addition with the map series, is it possible to have the series display various points along the same map? This is similar to the map tour app. However, I'm trying to embed a time slide map into it and according to ESRI documentation the map tour app isn't very good to embed with other maps such as the time aware templates. Thanks in advance! Dave

Hi All, I'm wondering if it's possible to take a story map I configured for one template and move it from one template to another to try it out and see how it looks within that format. I'd like to keep all the text and such the same just changing the format. The goal would be to take a map journal and turn it into a map bullet series. If this is not possible please let me know. Also, with the series map is it possible to have their be stopover points like a map tour. I ask this because I'm curious about making a tour point map but within the series model as the tour point maps according to ESRI documentation do not embed well with other story maps. Thanks, Dave

Hi All, I was wondering about saving changes in the time aware map. I somehow can't seem to save my changes in the time aware app. The save button is able to be selected (Not Whited out). But, yet it seems like whenever I save anything I can't seem to have it actually depict those changes within the map when I view it again. Part B of this quandary, is also having to do with embedding the app into a journal template. Is there a default custom size that can work to have a 1:100,000 scale map viewable with the time slider button still to be visible. I've tried a few of the common screen resolutions and I can't seem to find any that work and keep the map in the center of the frame. Thanks everybody! Dave

Hi all, I was able to resolve some of the flickering from my previous post. However, I am curious if anyone has ever done a time enabled map before and then embedded it into a map journal. I've begun the process and successfully embedded it. However, what is odd is that even in the stand alone time aware app, based on the time enabled web map layers, the displayed intervals don't show up until the 3rd stop time series. However and perhaps more oddly, after all the views have cycled through, one scroll the time slider backword and then view all the layers. Am I missing a setting? I've gone into the adjustments, in the map viewer, to start the time series with the first map and end with the last in the series. I would have thought that would have resolved the issue. I can start the time series earlier but it would display a blank basemap for the first period and it seems weird to do that. Any ideas. Thanks, Dave

Hello All, I'm currently working with the time aware template to create a time enabled story map. I created a time enabled feature layer and then a subsequent map. However, I'm trying to visually show change in suitability for a series of polygons. However, shy of creating a ton of layers, just to increase the number of stops along the time continuum, it seems every time a new layer is loaded a flickering occurs as it transitions between each interval. This is visually unpleasant, is there anything that can be done about this? I don't have any programming/python experience and have not worked at all with web-app builder. I was trying to as much of this "out of the box" as I could. Thanks, Dave

It appears as though that was the critical difference. I'll need to work out a few of the symbolizing kinks and get it to play nicely with how the overall story map will work. But, thank you all for the assistance! Dave

I will do that now! That was going to be my next course of action anyway. It should be live in a little bit. Thanks, Dave

Yes, I have tried adding it to both a new and old map. I also don't see anything in the rest services section about a time aware section. As identified in this tutorial here----Configure time settings—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS in the verification process. So, hence my wondering what I could be doing wrong in the export settings. I just don't understand how it could be a hosted service and not reproduce what's on the desktop. In addition, if I import it in as a zipped shapefile the problem still exists. Yet, when I view in desktop I have an animation.

Greetings all! So, I followed your instructions Jake Skinner and was not able to get it to show any time data. It's time enabled in desktop and I simply shared that directly from desktop. What could I possibly be doing wrong? I'm wondering, if I can achieve the same result I'm going for by just embedding the video of the avi file into my story map journal? Would that achieve a similar result. It would not enable the end viewer of the map to have as much control over the time intervals but still convey a message I'm wanting.. First option is to get the layers to be time enabled on ArcGIS online. If not perhaps an exported video file from arcgis desktop into a story map journal will be a second best option! Regards, Dave

Got it in there! Now I gotta troubleshoot and see if I can make it into a time aware web map to fit into a story map. Thanks for all your help! For organizations sake, I'm going to start another thread on some of those issues should they arise! Cheers, Dave

Ok, Unpacking the package? I've got it loaded in the online within our organizational account... But, I see no option to unpack the map package.
